The Berks County Court of Common Pleas has made the following changes to Family Court case assignments, effective January 3, 2023:
CUSTODY and DIVORCE: Judges assigned to hear Custody and Divorce cases in Family Court for 2023 will be Judge Lash, Judge Boyd, Judge Gavin, and Judge Koestel. Judge Geishauser’s pending cases are being reassigned. If you have pending Custody and Divorce cases assigned to Judge Geishauser, please check the Prothonotary Case Management System over the next couple of weeks as those cases get reassigned.
FAMILY EMERGENCY MOTIONS, PFAs and SUPPORT ENFORCEMENT: The usual rotation for Family Emergency Motions, PFAs and Support Enforcement is: Monday – Judge Boyd; Tuesday – Senior Judge Boccabella; Wednesday – Senior Judge Bucci; Thursday – Judge Koestel; and Friday – a rotation with Judge Gavin the 1st Friday; Judge Koestel the 2nd Friday; Judge Nevius the 3rd Friday; Judge Boyd the 4th Friday; and Judge Gavin or Judge Nevius the 5th Friday. The Friday Judge will be handling Emergency Motions, walk-in PFAs and Support Enforcement so we don’t plan to schedule Final PFAs for Fridays.
ICC’s: Judge Boyd will hear the ICC cases in January 2023, then Judge Lillis will begin hearing the ICC cases in February 2023.
