Some journeys are made in search of opportunity. Some paths are paved with love.

And others are flights from fear and violence, with people seeking safety and security.

On Wednesday afternoon, more than three dozen unique roads all led to the Berks County Courthouse. There, inside a courtroom on the fifth floor, individuals from 15 different home countries raised their rights hands and swore and oath to the United States.

The naturalization ceremony saw 37 people officially become citizens.

“What a remarkable journey each of you has made,” Gabriela G. Raful, president of the Berks County Bar Association, told the crowd.
